Parliamentary standing committee proposes plant bio-diversity authority
DHAKA, APR 16, 2019 (BSS) – The second meeting of the 11th Jatiya Sangsad’s
Standing Committee on Agriculture decided to finalize establishment of an
‘authority for preservation of different species of plants’, said an official
press release.
Chairman of the committee Matia Chowdhury presided over the meeting held at
the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban. Members of the committee including Agriculture
Minister Md Abdur Razzaque and legislators Abdul Mannan, Md Mamunur Rashid
Kiran and Hosne Ara were present at the meeting.
In order to make relevant rules for preservation, registration,
reproduction and protection of cultivator’s rights and other related matters,
a decision was made to present the ‘Plant Species Conservation Bill, 2019’,
with necessary amendments in the next session of parliament, the release
added.
Secretary to the Ministry of Agriculture and other high officials of the
ministry and different organizations under it, also attended the meeting.
