Abahani Limited takes on Indian Minerva Punjab in AFC Cup tomorrow
DHAKA, April 16, 2019 (BSS)- Dhaka Abahani Limited take on Former I League champions Indian Minerva Punjab in the group E encounter of AFC Cup 2019 Qualifier scheduled to be held on tomorrow (Wednesday) at Bangabandhu National Stadium (BNS) with both the teams optimistic on winning the match.
The match kicks off at 17.45 pm.
Addressing at a pre match press conference held on Tuesday at conference room of Bangladesh Football Federation Abahani Limited Head Coach M Rio Lemos said they are eying full point against Minerva Punjab.
The Portugal coach said boys are really motivated ahead of the match and looking full three point playing a god football match against the visitors.
Team’s captain and custodian Shahidul Islam also echoed the same statement by saying that they want to win the match playing good football.
The six times professional league champions Dhaka Abahani Limited was pitted in Group E of the prestigious AFC Cup along with Minerva Punjab of India, Manang Marshyangdi Club of Nepal, and Chennaiyin FC of India to meet each other in home and away basis.
The popular sky-blue Dhanmondi outfit Abahani will play their home match against Chennaiyin FC of India on April 30 in their home away match at Arena Stadium in Ahmadabad, India.
In the remaining group matches, Dhaka Abahani Limited will play two home matches against Chennaiyin FC on May 15 and Manang Marshyangdi Club of Nepal on June 19, both at BNS and will play their last away match against Minerva Punjab of India on June 26 at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar.
Earlier, on April 3, Abahani beat Manang Marshyangdi Club of Nepal by a solitary goal in their group opening match.
