Uttaran foundation celebrates Pahela Baishakh
DHAKA, April 15, 2019 (BSS) – Uttaran Foundation celebrated the Pahela
Boishakh, the first day of Bengali New Year 1426, with great enthusiasm,
fanfare and festivity.
The Bangla New Year 1426 was welcomed with traditional songs at a
programme held yesterday jointly organized by Theatre and Performance Studies
Department of Dhaka University and Uttaran Foundation, said a press release.
State Minister for Religious Affairs Alhaj Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah
delivered his speech as the chief guest, while dean of arts faculty professor
Dr Abu M Delwar Hossain and Chairman of Uttaran Foundation and Deputy
Inspector General (Administration and Discipline) of Police Habibur Rahman
spoke as special guests.
Students of Theatre and Performance Studies Department performed dance
and sang Baishakhi songs, while people of transgender community displayed
their performance with signing traditional songs.
Later, Theater and Performance Studies Department of Dhaka University
gave memento to Chairman of Uttaran Foundation and Deputy Inspector General
of Police Habibur Rahman marking the Bangla Noboborsho “Pahela Baishakh”.
