CHATTOGRAM, Apr 12, 2019 (BSS)-Chattogram Metropolitan Police arrested on
charges of attempting to kill his wife by pouring kerosene at OR Nezam
residential area of GEC in the city on Thursday.
The arrested person was identified as Arshadul Alam, son of Abdul Malek,
hailed from OR Nezam residential area of GEC.
Arshadul got married to Tasnim Saida Chowdhury in 2009 and they have three
issues. Hasan Mahmud Rashed uncle of Tasnim alleged that the couple had been
longstanding family feud over an extra-marital affair of the husband since
2009.
In regular practices Arshadul picked up a quarrel with his wife over the
same issue and beat her up mercilessly on Thursday night, he alleged.
Confirming the incident Mohammad Shahdat Hossain, officer-in-charge
(investigation) of Panchlaish said he tried to kill his wife by setting her
on fire after pouring kerosene in one stage of their quarrel.
Later, the family inmates rescued Tasnim and took her to Chattogram
Medical College and Hospital.
A case was filed by Hasan Mahmud Rashed in this connection with Panchlaish
thana in the night.
