Russian investors urged to visit Bangladesh’s agriculture sector

DHAKA, April 11, 2019 (BSS) – Agriculture Minister Dr Abdur Razzaque today urged the Russian investors to visit Bangladesh’s agriculture sector, saying the country’s efforts to work together with Russia will continue aiming to accelerate its development pace.

The minister came up with the call when a Russian delegation, led by Russian Ambassador in Dhaka Alexander Ignatov, met him at the Secretariat here.

During the meeting, he recalled the contribution of the then Soviet Union to Bangladesh’s 1971 Liberation War.

Noting that Bangladesh has been enjoying an excellent bilateral relationship with Russia since January 1972, Razzaque said at present, both the countries have close ties in defense, economic and political arenas.

Highlighting the Bangladesh’s progress achieved in various sectors, Ignatov said the country’s all sectors should be digitalised to accelerate its development pace.

He said Russia is ready to be a development partner of Bangladesh’s all development works.

“Russia and Bangladesh will work together in the export of agricultural products, including potato,” the Russian envoy said, inviting the Bangladesh agriculture minister to visit Russia.

Mikhail Potapov, Director General of the Foreign Economic Corporation Prodingtorg Subordinated to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russia; Aleksandr Moskalenko, Head of Foreign Trade JSC Prodingtorg; Mia Sattar, President of National Group Russia; and Md Amiruzzaman, Managing Director of National Group Bangladesh and Local representative of JSC Prodingtorg, were present.
