Shinepukur bow out DPL with a victory
DHAKA, April 11, 2019 (BSS)- Despite winning today Shinepukur Cricket Club had to bow out of Dhaka Premier League (DPL) as they registered a 15-run victory over Khelaghar Samaj Kallayan Samity as per D/L method at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
Put into bat first, Khelaghar were bowled out for 190 in 48.2 overs but a spell of shower intervene the game, when Shinepukur were 165-6 in 41 overs. Since no more play was possible, as per D/L method, the winning target was 151 during the over of 41. As Shinepukur were ahead of 15 runs by that time, they were declared winner.
Pace bowler Delwar Hossain was the wrecker-in-chief claiming 3-27 to derail Khelaghar. He was ably supported by Afif Hossain and Hamidul Islam who both took two wickets apiece.
No. 8 batsman Masum Khan was Khelaghar’s highest scorer with 40 while Amit Mojumdar made 37.
Opener Shadman Islam led the run chase with a stubborn 64 off 112, hitting four fours and one six. Indian recruit Unmukt Chand made 34 while Dhiman Ghosh was unbeaten on 31.
Shinepukur finished seventh in the DPL with 11 points from 11 games. If Mohammedan would have lost their game to BKSP, than there was a chance that they could move into the Super League.
Khelaghar collected six points, same as Brothers but they were behind by net-run-rate, which forced them to join BKSP (5 points) and Uttara Sporting Club (4 points) in the relegation league.
