Two books for KG students in Faridpur

FARIDPUR, April 11, 2019 (BSS) – Faridpur district administration with the support of private preprimary schools has undertaken an initiative to implement the directives of the prime minister to reduce burden of books on minors.

At the initiative of the district administration Faridpur Private School Coordination Committee has agreed to educate around 5,000 kindergarten students with only two books – “Aloy Bhubon Bhora” (Bangla) and “Give Me Some Sunshine” (English) complied by local scholars instead of giving them lesson with seven/eight books of different writers.

“At this very early stage of schooling a kid takes load of 7 to 8 books which is big pain for them. Hence, only two books were formulated to ensure the comprehensive learning for the children of KG schools,” Mobasswer Hasan , Additional Deputy Commissioner (Edu & ICT) in Faridpur told BSS.

Giving emphasize on reducing pressure of books on the children of preprimary level, the district administration has published the books with a joint venture of Faridpur Private School Coordination Committee, he said.

The “preprimary education” refers to the stage of education for children aged below six years before their primary education starts. The minor children aged from three to five years start schooling at this age to be acquainted with a new environment and surroundings outside their homes.

Hasan added that the kids in Play Group in about 200 kindergarten schools in the district are reading the same books as we are following the National Education Policy-2010 which suggests equal and quality education for all.

Sahana Akter, head teacher of Tarar Mela Eshan Memorial School said the two books – “Aloy Bhubon Bhora” (Bangla) and “Give Me Some Sunshine” (English) have emerged as very lovely pieces of reading for the children.

“The beautiful books offer them amusing verses giving priority to moral education as well as some general knowledge,” she said. Supervised by Faridpur Deputy Commissioner Ommey Salma Tanzia, a dozen of erudite writers including eight Assistant Commissioners of

Faridpur District Administration (FDA) have compiled the books introducing a slogan of district branding ” Sonali Ashe Bhorpur , Bhalobashi Faridpur.”

Both Bangla and English books have 20 rhymes which are very inspiring and canorous to the learners.

Rezvi Zaman, Associate professor of Govt. Rajendra College in English Department who is also an editor of the books told that these two books are hugely pragmatic and effective for nourishment of the children.

The books are entertaining and instructive for the kids also, he said adding that the initiative of Faridpur will be considered as a landmark for other districts.

Deputy Commissioner Ommey Salma Tanzia said that the two books formulated for the play- group student have become very popular to the young learners and guardians for its quality and uniqueness.

The excessive books of kindergarten and mounting pressure have been reduced through these books, she said adding that it has been made mandatory for all kindergarten schools to follow the books.
