DHAKA, April 10, 2019 (BSS) – The Dhaka University (DU) authorities are taking all out preparation to celebrate centenary birth anniversary of Father of Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman with due respect.
With the theme “Mujib Shotobarsha- 2020”, elaborate programmes including setting up of an elevated sculpture of Bangabandhu; organising of national and international seminars; publishing of book on “Bangabandhu and Dhaka University”; issuing of special souvenir; organising of essay writing competition on the life, works and struggles of Bangabandhu; establishment of a new building named after Bangabandhu at the Department of Law; arranging of cultural programmes and photography exhibition; organising of Bangabandhu Gold Cup Tournament; and illumination of DU campus will be chalked out.
Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU), different departments, institutes, research centers, dormitories and affiliated colleges of DU will also arrange similar programmes.
Marking the 100th birth anniversary of the architect of independent Bangladesh to be held on March 17, 2020, a discussion programme was held here today at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban on the campus with DU Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Md. Akhtaruzzaman in the chair.
DU Pro-VC (Admin) Professor Dr Muhammad Samad, Treasurer Professor Dr Kamal Uddin, senate and syndicate members, deans, provosts of the halls, chairperson of different departments, proctor and assistant proctors, DUCSU Vice-President (VP), heads of BNCC and rover scout, among others, were present at the discussion.
