Leaves of BWDB officials cancelled ahead of monsoon
DHAKA, Apr 10, 2019 (BSS) – Deputy Minister of Water Resources AKM Enamul Haque Shamim today said all forms of leave of the Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB) officers and employees working in the river erosion-affected areas have been cancelled ahead of the monsoon.
“We have taken adequate measures ahead of the monsoon… That is why all forms of leave of the BWDB officials have been cancelled in the river erosion-affected areas,” said the deputy minister at a press conference at the secretariat here today.
“I along with the high officials concerned of the ministry have visited and identified those river-erosion affected and vulnerable areas,” he said, adding that all concerned have been advised to speed up the pace of their works to stop river erosion in their respective areas.
Secretary of Water Resources Ministry Kabir Bin Anwar and other officials were present at the press conference.
Besides, the State Minister for Water Resources Zahid Faruk in his written speech said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will address a meeting as the chief guest at Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) at 10.30 am tomorrow as part of the World Water Day.
In observance of the World Water Day, a rally will be brought out from South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) at 7 am, he said, adding that after parading different city streets, it will end at BICC.
