Land Service Week begins in Gaibandha

GAIBANDHA, April 10, 2019 (BSS)- The Land Service Week and the Land
Development Tax Fair-2019 began in the district today with an aim to enhance
land management skills, efficiency and make people aware on their land
rights.

Marking the week, the district administration chalked out elaborate
programmes with the theme “Rakhbo Nishkontok Jomi-Bari, Korbo Sobay E-
Namjari’ (Our land and home will remain be protected, we will do e-mutation).

In the morning, a rally led by Deputy Commissioner (DC) M Abdul Matin was
brought out from the district collectorate office premises and ended at the
same venue after parading the main roads of the town.

Later, a discussion meeting was held there with Additional Deputy
Commissioner (Revenue) M Tofayel Hossain in the chair.

DC M Abdul Matin addressed the meeting as the chief guest while civil
surgeon Dr ABM Abu Hanif, Additional Police Superintendent RahaatGowhary and
general secretary of Bangladesh Awami League (district unit) Abu Bakar
Siddique were present as special guests.

The speakers underscored the need for ensuring land service standard and
security through the full implementation of automation and digitalisation
process in land management considering the interest of the people.

The chief guest said land dispute cases are often creating barriers in the
way of providing land services to the people and many pragmatic measures had
been taken to promote the land related services for the people.

The DC also urged the concerned officials and employees to be more sincere
and professional for making a bridge between land service recipients and
providers for ensuring better services so that the land service recipients
were not harassed and hurts.

Some 12 stalls were set up on the district collectorate office premises for
marking the fair.

A number of people including senior officials of the district
administration, district and upazila level officials, land officials and
staff and journalists of print and electronic media took part in the
programmes.

Revenue Deputy Collector Bir Ameer Hamza said people would be encouraged to
take digital land services, e-mutation process will be displayed, e-mutation
service will be provided to people, land development tax would be collected
and application on leasing khas land would be received in the fair.
