AL leader Sheikh Abdul Aziz’s namaz-e-janaza held

DHAKA, APR 10, 2019 (BSS) – The namaz-e-janaza of Sheikh Abdul Aziz, a
veteran Awami League (AL) leader and close associate of Father of the Nation
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, was held at 11 am today, at the south
plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban.

A guard of honor was given to the freedom fighter for his contribution to
the country’s Liberation War, by the Dhaka District Administration.

Later, on behalf of the prime minister, her special assistant Barrister
Biplob Barua paid tributes by placing a wreath on his coffin.

On behalf of JS speaker, sergeant-at-arms, Deputy Speaker Fazle Rabbi
Miah, Chief Whip Noor-e-Alam Chowdhury, on behalf of Awami League Amir
Hossain Amu and AL leaders placed wreaths on the coffin.

Aziz, also the former agriculture minister of the Bangabandhu cabinet, died
of old-age complications at his Gulshan residence yesterday at the age of 99.

He hailed from Morelganj upazila of Bagerhat district and was the founder
president of the greater Khulna unit of Awami League.
