AL leader Sheikh Abdul Aziz’s namaz-e-janaza tomorrow

DHAKA, April 9, 2019 (BSS) – The first namaz-e-janaza of Sheikh Abdul Aziz,
a veteran Awami League (AL) leader and close associate of Father of the
Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, will be held at 11 am at the south
plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban tomorrow.

His second namaz-e-janaza will be held at Azad Mosque in the city’s Gulshan
area after Johr prayers and later, he will be buried at the Banani graveyard,
according to a press release, signed by AL Deputy Office Secretary Biplob
Barua.

Aziz, also the former agriculture minister of the Bangabandhu cabinet, died
of old-age complications at his Gulshan residence yesterday at the age of 99.

He hailed from Morelganj upazila of Bagerhat district and was the founder
president of the greater Khulna unit of Awami League.

In a condolence massage, Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin
Chaudhury, Deputy Speaker Advocate Md Fazle Rabbi Miah and Chief Whip Noor-E-
Alam Chowdhury expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Sheikh Aziz.

The speaker recalled Aziz’s contributions to the Liberation War and
politics.

They prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed profound
sympathy to the bereaved family.

– In separate condolence massages, State Minister for Shipping and AL
organizing secretary Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury and Abul Hasanat Abdullah, the
convener of the committee to implement the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) peace
accord condoled the death of the senior AL leader.
