Price fall in large-cap drives stocks down

DHAKA, April 9, 2019 (BSS) – Stocks closed on Tuesday of the week with
downward trend due mainly to price fall in large-cap securities.

The falling major sectors were textile, fuel and power and insurance. A
total of 183 securities of the large-cap group moved down due to lower
activities.

The broader DSEX index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the day with
53.48 points down at 5,318.75. The Shariah DSES and the blue-chip DS30 also
followed the same trend with 7.62 points down at 1,232.99 and with 24 points
down at 1,900.54.

The daily trade fell to 7.65 crore shares from Monday’s 8.05 crore
shares and the day’s trade value at DSE decreased to Taka 365.92 crore from
Taka 418 crore of the previous session.

At DSE, out of the day’s 347 securities, prices of 57 securities closed
higher against 231 losing issues.

The major gaining issues were Agrani insurance, KAY@QUE, PF1STMF, Rupali
Insurance and Trust Bank. The major losing companies were RN Spinning,
UPGDCL, United Insurance, Savar EFR and MLDYEING.

ESQUIRENIT topped the turnover list followed by UPGDCL, BATBC, ECABLES
and GP.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with
downward trend with its major CASPI 165.10 points down at 16,313.89.

At CSE, 235 issues were traded. Of those, 52 closed higher and 162
closed lower when 56.18 lakh shares worth Taka 18.93 crore changed hands.
