Speaker lauds expatriates’ contribution to country’s progress

DHAKA, April 9, 2019 (BSS) – Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin
Chaudhury today lauded the contribution of Bangladeshi expatriates to the
country’s overall development as the Qatar unit of Awami League (AL) called
on her.

Recalling the contribution of Bangladeshi expatriates in expediting the
country’s ongoing development, the Speaker said under the dynamic leadership
of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina the country has successfully graduated to reach the
status of middle income nation, an official release said today.

Referring to the massive development projects undertaken by the
government, Dr Chaudhury said by achieving the sustainable development goals,
Bangladesh will attain the status of a developed country by 2041.

During the meeting, different issues, including sending skilled manpower
to Qatar, arranging training for the workers to enhance professional
expertise and export of medicine and readymade garments (RMG) were discussed.

Pointing out that Bangladeshi medicine and RMG have high demand in Qatar
markets, the Qatar AL delegation urged the Speaker to play due role in
expanding bilateral trade between the two countries.

The AL delegation was led by Freedom Fighter Omar Faruk Chowdhury.
Bangladesh’s ambassador in Doha Ashud Ahmed and general secretary of Qatar AL
unit Engineer Abu Raihan, among others, were present on the occasion.
