Govt will give job to one family member of Sohel Rana: Kamal
DHAHA, April 9, 2019 (BSS) – Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal today
said the government will give job to the eligible one of the family members
of fireman Sohel Rana, who recently died in a Singapore hospital after
sustained serious injuries in the deadly Banani FR Tower fire.
He came up with the assurance while talking to reporters after the first
namaz-e-janaza of Sohel Rana at the Fire Service and Civil Defence
headquarters in the capital about 11 am.
“A hero never dies. He remains in the hearts of people forever. As
heroes sacrifice their lives for others, a state has something to do for
them. We tried to ensure the best possible treatment for Sohel Rana,” Kamal
said.
He said since Sohel Rana was the only breadwinner for his family, the
government and the Fire Service and Civil Defence Department will look after
his family. “If there is any eligible member of his family, we will give a
job to his or her,” he added.
Replying to a question about compensation for the family of Sohel Rana,
the home minister said: “We will not give any compensation, but we will
provide all-out cooperation to his family. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will
cooperate with his family. We will look into the matter in the future”.
About the bravery of the late firefighter, he said Sohel Rana loved the
country and its people, and he proved it by sacrificing his life.
“He (Sohel Rana) sacrificed his life as he carried out rescue operation
in FR Tower fire at life risk. The whole nation is shocked at his death and
pays homage to him,” Kamal said.
Sohel Rana, a fireman of Kurmitola Fire Station, sustained serious
injuries while going to save the life of the people trapped inside the FR
Tower in Banani following the devastating fire on March 28.
After the incident, he was rushed to the Combined Military Hospital in
Dhaka and was admitted to its intensive care unit (ICU). Later, he was sent
to Singapore by an air ambulance at the directives of the prime minister for
his better treatment.
The FR Tower inferno claimed the lives of 26 people and left around 100
injured.
