Speaker mourns death of fireman Sohel Rana

DHAKA, April 8, 2019 (BSS) – Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury today
expressed deep shock at the death of fireman Sohel Rana, who succumbed to his
injuries at a Singapore hospital.

He died around 2:17 am today (Bangladesh time) in Singapore, ending his
battle for life since getting injured in the devastating Banani fire.

In a condolence message, Dr Chaudhury prayed for eternal peace of the
departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members.

Deputy Speaker of the parliament Fazle Rabbi Miah and chief whip Noor-E-
Alam Chowdhury also condoled his death.

Sohel Rana sustained serious injuries during the rescue operation in the
Banani fire in city on March 28. He was rushed to the Combined Military
Hospital in Dhaka, and admitted to its intensive care unit (ICU).

Later, he was sent to Singapore by an air ambulance at the directives of
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for better treatment.
