Former Law Commission staff gets 4-year jail for money laundering

DHAKA, April 8, 2019 (BSS) – A former driver of Bangladesh Law Commission
has been sentenced to four-year imprisonment in a case lodged over money
laundering.

Dhaka special judge court-5 passed the order, asking the state also to
confiscate all movable and immovable properties of the driver Samsul Alam.
The court also fined him Taka 1.40 crore.

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on July 8, 2014, filed the case with
Shahbagh Police Station for laundering Taka 70.14 lakh. Investigation officer
and ACC assistant director Mohammad Sirajul Haque had filed chargesheet
against Samsul on July 11, 2017.

The court today came up with the judgement after examining seven out of the
nine witnesses.
