Taskin in talks with clubs to play DPL
DHAKA, April 8, 2019 (BSS)-Fast bowler Taskin Ahmed said he has been in discussion with some of the clubs in his bid to play some matches of the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) as he wants to have some match practice under his belt to assess his match fitness.
Taskin’s eventual goal is to force his case stronger for the Bangladesh World Cup-bound squad which is expected to be named in the third week of April.
The lanky fast bowler has already started bowling after recovering from the injury and grown with confidence. At the moment, by playing some matches could help him understand on where he stands now. He therefore aims to play the DPL at the last match of the group phase which is scheduled to begin on April 10.
“I hope to get the opportunity to play the league. I have been in talks with some clubs and if I can manage, I am planning to play the league at the last match of the group phase. If there is no problem further, I hope to play,” Taskin said here today.
Taskin sustained an ankle injury during the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) T20 in which he claimed 22 wickets from 12 matches to be the second highest wicket-taker.
However that unfortunate ankle injury in the last group match of BPL sidelined him for a couple of months and ruined his hope to thrive in New Zealand condition but he is not ready to give up the hopes as his ultimate target is to play ICC Cricket World up.
According to him his current condition is better than the past as he started bowling with full run up without any problem.
“I have been improving day by day. Even today I bowled with full run-up and faced no problem. It’s really feeling good that after so long time I could bowl with full rhythm and run-up. I am confident enough about myself right at the moment,” he revealed.
“There was some nervousness whether I could bowl with full run-up but once I took run-up and bowled, everything went okay. The physio and BCB medical team’s Devashis Chowdhury( chief physician) were there to my bowling. They are quite happy with my progress.”
