4 missing as boat capsizes in Karnaphuli
CHATTOGRAM, April 8, 2019 (BSS) – Four people went missing as an engine-
run passenger boat capsized near Saltgola ghat of Karnaphuli River in Patenga
on Sunday night.
The boat carrying 12 passengers going to Saltgola ghat of Karnaphuli
River from Dangachar Ghat-13 of Julda union and sank in the river at about 8
pm due to strong wind.
Purna Chandra Mustsuddi, deputy assistant director of fire service told
BSS that eight passengers were rescued alive while four are still missing.
The identity of three people out of four confirmed, he said. They are M
Akbar, 40, son of Nurul Islam, M Hanif, 30, son of Abdul Khaleque, both
hailed from Julda union of Karnaphuli thana and Habibur Rahman, 40, son of
Abdul Karim, hailed from Sherpur district.
