Noted comedian Tele Samad laid to rest

DHAKA, April 7, 2019 (BSS) – Noted comedian and actor Tele Samad was laid to rest at his family graveyard at 5.45 pm this afternoon at Nayagaon village in Munshiganj.

He was buried after the fifth namaz-e-janaza on the ground of Dr Riaz Uddin College ground in Munshiganj. People from all walks of life in Munshiganj joined the janaza.

Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud today joined the namaz-e-janaza at Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) and paid tribute to noted comedian and actor Tele Samad by placing wreaths on his coffin.

Renowned actor Akbar Hossain Pathan (Faruk), MP, Bangladesh Film Directors’ Association president Mushfiqur Rahman Gulzar and officials of BFDC were present.

Talking to journalists, Dr Hasan Mahmud, also the publicity secretary of ruling Awami League, said Tele Samad was a legendary actor. He thought about film till his death and devoted himself for the development of film, said the information minister.

Hasan said the government is considering to honour the noted comedian posthumously. “We pray for the eternal peace of his departed soul,” he added.

Noted comedian and film actor Tele Samad passed away on Saturday at the age of 74.

The lovable comedian Abdus Samad was born in Munshiganj on January 8, 1945. He adopted the name Tele Samad when his movie career began to take off as he came from Television.
