World Health Day observed in country
DHAKA, April 7, 2019 (BSS) – World Health Day was observed across the country as elsewhere in the globe with the theme of the day “Universal Health Coverage: Everyone, Everywhere.”
On the occasion a procession was organized in Feni town this morning which was followed by a discussion meeting at Civil Surgeon Office with Civil Surgeon Dr Sazzad Hossain in the chair. Deputy Commissioner Md Wahiduzzaman was present as the chief guest.
In Jhenaida, a procession paraded different streets of the town in morning marking the day. A discussion meeting was also organized in the town. Acting Civil Surgeon Dr Mokarrom Hossain presided over the meeting while additional district magistrate Sadekur Rahman was the chief guest.
The World Health Day 2019 was observed in Kaliganj in Gazipur district. A colorful procession jointly organized by Caritas Bangladesh and Shishu Shastho Unnayan Prokolpo Dhaka was brought out in which local political leaders also joined.
Marking the day a colorful procession was held in Meherpur . Deputy Commissioner Ataul Goni, Civil Surgeon Dr Shamim Ara Naznin and panel Mayor of Meherpur municipality Shahinur Rahman Riton took part the procession, among others.
World Health Day 2019 was also observed in Habiganj and Shariatpur town. District Administration and District Health Department organized procession and discussion on the occasion.
In Rajshahi the World Health Day was observed with different programs. Speakers at discussion on the occasion called for bringing all people under health coverage for their betterment and building a healthy nation.
Civil Surgeon Office organised the discussion at its conference on “Universal Health Coverage for Primary Health Care with a Focus on Equity and Solidarity.”
Various government and non-government organisations like Dascoh, Damien Foundation, Light House, BRAC, FPAB and Ashakta Punarbashan Sangstha (APOSH) joined the rally and discussion.
Chaired by Civil Surgeon Dr Amir Hossain, the meeting was addressed, among others, by Additional Deputy Commissioner Alamgir Kabir, Additional Superintendent of Police Suman Kumar Dev, Medical Officer Dr Kamrul Hassan and Senior Health Education Officer Md Shamsuzzaman.
