HC issues rule over compensating Barguna schoolgirl’s death

DHAKA, April 07, 2019 (BSS) – The High Court (HC) today issued a rule
asking authorities concerned to explain as to why it shall not pass order to
compensate appropriately the families of a schoolgirl that died and 10 others
who were injured as a part of ceiling plaster of the classroom fell on them
in Barguna.

A High Court division bench comprising Justice FRM Nazmul Ahasan and
Justice KM Kamrul Kader passed the order after holding hearing on a writ
filed in this regard.

“The court asked primary and mass education secretary, Barguna deputy
commissioner, district primary education officer, Taltoli upazila education
officer and governing committee president of the school to reply within four
weeks,” Barrister M Mainul Islam, who moved the writ before court, told
newsmen.

A big part of ceiling plaster fell on the class three students at Chotobogi
PK Government Primary School in Taltoli upazila in Barguna on April 6. A
total of 11 students got injured in the incident. Of them Mansura died on her
way to hospital.
