Dr Hasan lauds youths’ contribution to economic growth
DHAKA, April 7, 2019 (BSS) – Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud today said the youth forces are making a good contribution to the faster economic growth of Bangladesh.
“As the youths make up 30 percent of the country’s total population, we should provide better opportunities to them to develop as skilled workforce to build an economically advanced country,” he told the inaugural function of a two-day youth conference in the city.
Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) is organizing the conference at Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) here.
PKSF Chairman Dr Qazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmad chaired the inaugural function while its Managing Director Md Abdul Karim and Deputy Managing Director Dr Md Zasim Uddin spoke on the occasion.
Hasan urged the young generation to intensify efforts with their dreams to become successful in life.
“In the past 10 years, Bangladesh has maintained faster economic growth thanks to huge contribution of the enthusiastic and energetic youth forces. We have a large number of young people… We should provide adequate facilities to our future generation so that Bangladesh can enjoy demographic dividend to turn into a developed country,” he added.
The minister said once Bangladesh used to appear in news items in the global media being affected by natural disasters, including cyclone and flood.
As a result of the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Bangladesh is becoming news in global media for its faster economic growth and many other successful events.
Many world leaders are lauding the remarkable advancements in different socio-economic indicators, including achieving gender parity in education sector, Hasan said, adding Bangladesh has exceeded in many key indicators compared to India and Pakistan.
So, Bangladesh is being regarded as a role model of development for many developing nations, he added.
The information minister said, “Once Bangladesh faced food deficit… Despite shrinking of farm land due to rapid urbanization and construction of different infrastructures including house, Bangladesh has become a food surplus country as the present government has implemented many development programmes.”
He said both public and private sectors should work together to supplement the efforts of the government for building a happy and prosperous country.
