Taking approval for making dramas, hosting competition on Bangabandhu
lifted

DHAKA, April 7, 2019 (BSS) – The Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh
Mujibur Rahman Memorial Trust has lifted the provision of taking its approval
for making dramas, writings and literary works on the life of Bangabandhu and
organising any sports competition or tournament in his name.

The provision was withdrawn at a meeting of the Father of the Nation
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Memorial Trust held at Bangabandhu Bhaban
in Dhanmondi here on Saturday evening.

Chairperson of the trust and Bangabandhu’s elder daughter Prime Minister
Sheikh Hasina presided over the meeting.

“The meeting decided that from now on there is no need to take approval
from the trust for making dramas, writings and literary works on the life of
Bangabandhu and organising any sports competition or tournament in his name,”
Prime Minister’s Office Press Wing sources said.

“However, approval will have to be taken from the trust in the case of
naming any institution or establishment after Bangabandhu and his family
members,” the sources said.

The meeting approved naming of 13 institutions after martyred members of
Bangabandhu family and a total of Taka 50,200 scholarship for students, the
sources said.

The meeting reviewed the social welfare activities of the trust and
decided to carry forward its different projects faster.

It also reviewed the progress of the decisions taken earlier, while sub-
committee reports on different issues were also placed at the meeting.

At the outset of the meeting, an obituary reference was adopted at the
death of treasurer of the trust AM Rafik.

The members of the trustee board including Law, Justice and Parliamentary
Affairs Minister Advocate Anisul Haq, Bangabandhu’s grandson Radwan Mujib
Siddiq Bobby, Sheikh Helal Uddin, MP, and Chief Whip Noor-E-Alam Chowdhury
Liton and Member Secretary Sheikh Hafizur Rahman were present on the
occasion.
