Moderate 5.0 quake hits Solomon Islands

HONIARA, April 7, 2019 (BSS/AFP) – A moderate 5.0-magnitude earthquake
shook the Pacific Ocean off the Solomon Islands on Sunday, the US Geological
Survey said, but there were no immediate reports of damage and no tsunami
warning.

The quake occurred 27 kilometres (17 miles) off Kirakira in the Solomons,
and 225 kilometres southeast of the capital Honiara, at a depth of about 73
kilometres, the agency said.
