SYLHET, April 6, 2019 (BSS) – Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni today said Bangladesh and India should work together for enhancing research works to improve the quality of education of the two countries.
“Both Bangladesh and India will advance in the education sector, if the two countries strengthen their bonding on different disciplines of education, particularly science and technology,” she told the inaugural function of “International Convention of Vice Chancellor” at the Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) here.
Chairman of University Grants Commission Professor Abdul Mannan, Vice Chancellor of SUST Md. Farid Uddin Ahmad, Vice Chancellor of Gauhati University Dr. Mridul Hazarika, Chancellor of Meghalaya Science and Technology University Mahbubul Haque, among others, addressed the function with Dean of the School of Applied Science and Technology of SUST Prof Dr Abul Mukid Mohammad Mokaddesh in the chair.
Dr Dipu said, “Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman established a historical relation between Bangladesh and India. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is following the footsteps of Bangabandhu to further strengthen bilateral relations of the two countries.”
There are huge cultural similarities between Bangladesh and India, which is contributing to cement relationship of the two peoples, she said adding, “We want to move forward for maximizing immense potentiality of the two countries.”
Welcoming knowledge-sharing gathering among vice chancellors of Bangladesh and India, the minister said the convention of vice chancellors will produce better outcomes for improving quality of education at higher education level.
There is no alternative to exchanging knowledge-sharing on different disciplines particularly science and technology, Dr Dipu said, “Joint collaboration between Bangladesh and India should be developed in education sector for keeping up with the technologically advanced world.”
Vice Chancellors of 23 universities from Bangladesh and India took part in the convention.
