Five killed, 15 injured in Gaibandha road crash
GAIBANDHA, April 6, 2019 (BSS)-At least five persons were killed and 15
others wounded in a road accident on Dhaka-Rangpur Highway in Balua area of
Gobindaganj upazila of the district in the early hours of today.
Police and hospital sources said the accident took place when a Burimari-
bound bus skidded off the road and fell into a ditch around 2.30 am.
Being informed, police rushed to the spot and sent the injured to the
local upazila health complex and Rangpur Medical College Hospital for
treatment, said M. Akhteruzzaman, officer in charge of Gobindaganj Highway
Thana.
The victims were identified as – Riaz Uddin, 20, son of Mannan Miah, of
Uttar Tazpur village under Mithapukur Upazila of Rangpur district, Bikash
Chandra Saha, 48, son of late Bholanath Saha, of Balda village under Katihati
upazila and Sunil Kumar Sarker, 50, son of Bhuban Kumar Sarker, 32, of Sadar
upazila of Tangail district, Biddyut Miah, son of Sobhan Miah, of Doyana
village under Hatibandha upazila and Mahabul Islam, 22, son of Mohsin Ali, of
Botar Chhata village under Patgram upazila of Lalmonirhat district.
A case was filed with the highway thana in this connection.
Meanwhile, the district administration allotted Taka 10,000 for each of the
deceased on behalf of the district administration primarily. Besides, a
committee has been formed to inquire into the incident and submit a report.
