KITF draws huge crowd
KHULNA, April 6, 2019 (BSS) – The 18th Khulna International Trade Fair
(KITF) yesterday (Friday) witnessed a huge crowd as most visitors swarmed to
the biggest trade show of country’s South-Western zone to enjoy the weekend
holiday with near and dear ones.
“I have come to visit the fair to enjoy the weekend holiday with my son
and daughter and to buy some ‘Baishakhi’ dresses and gifts from here as I
could not go out in the last couple of week due to my service,” said Sakhina
Begum, an associate professor of Govt. B L College.
“The trade fair is best place for me to choose my desired products as
many companies are participating in the event and displaying their latest
collections to attract buyers,” said Lutfun Nahar Mukta, a woman entrepreneur
from city’s Daulatpur industrial area.
Most of the stalls are offering exclusive discounts at the fair and it
is an opportunity for us to buy our desired products at a cheaper cost, she
added.
Most visitors were seen thronging stalls and pavilions of garments,
kitchenware, home appliance and electronics goods to buy essentials for daily
life.
“Our stall was overcrowded today as we are offering discount on garments
products ahead of Pahala Baishakh,” said Ibrahim Howlader, a salesman of
Kustia Bastraloy.
“Sales are comparatively lower than the last year till today though KITF
has passed already three week,” said Ayub Hossain, owner of Kustia Bostroloy.
He also hopes that selling is gradually improving ahead of Pahela
Baishakh.
Electronic and furniture stalls were packed with visitors; mostly with
women who were seen bargaining with salesmen.
The fair started on 15th March and around 200 stalls of different
products were set up in the fair.
Khulna Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) organized the month-long
fair at the Circuit House Ground (Maidan). The trade fair will remain open to
visitors from 10.00am to 10.00pm every day.
