Six fake customs officials put on remand

DHAKA, April 04, 2019 (BSS) – Six fraudsters, who used to con people
posing as customs officials, were put on one day remand each in a case filed
over realizing money through fraud.

The accused are Md Nurul Haque, 57, Md Sheikh Alam, 43, Md Firoz Alam,
57, Md Mosharraf Hosen, 54, Md Masud Rana, 43, and Md Renu Mia alias Roni,
38.

Dhaka metropolitan magistrate Abu Sufian Md Noman passed the order as
investigation officer and sub-inspector SMA Allis Mahmud of Darus Salam
Police Station produced the accused before the court and pleaded for five
days of remand.

The court also set May 12 for submitting probe report in the case.

A team of RAB-4 arrested the six from Mirpur area in the capital on April
2.

“The arrestees had been cheating people posing as customs officials for
a long. They have already collected around Taka one crore from different
people, mostly targeting service seekers, traders and dealers of different
companies,” commanding officer of RAB-4 Chowdhury Manzurul Kabir told
journalists at a press briefing yesterday.
