Bourses close with downtrend

DHAKA, April 3, 2019 (BSS) – Country’s two bourses closed today with a downward trend following fall of some large caps securities, although Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) registered a rise in transaction volume.

The broader DSEX index of DSE closed with 69.97 points down at 5452.19. The Shariah DSES and the blue-chip DS30 also followed the same trend with 11.87 points down at 1,269.28 and with 29.66 points down at 1947.86.

However, the volume of daily trade rose to Taka 451.36 crore of 8,38,07,228 shares which was Taka 39 crore higher than that of yesterday’s transaction of Taka 412.52 crore.

At DSE, out of the day’s 346 companies and mutual funds, 54 registered higher price while 264 were losing issues and 28 remained unchanged.

The major gaining issues were United Insurance, Exim first mutual fund, Renwick Jajneswar, ICB Sonali 1 mutual fund, ICB AMCL 2 mutual fund, Libra infusion and Eastern cables.

Besides, the major losing companies were United Power, United Air, Phoenix Insurance, ICB employee mutual fund first scheme 1, Dhaka Insurance, Union Capital, BIFC, Green Delta, Janata Insurance and Federal Insurance.

Besides, the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day with CASPI 196 points down at 16,735.

At CSE, 236 issues were traded. Of those, 52 closed higher while 168 closed lower and 16 remained unchanged.
