SC upholds Rana’s bail in FF Faruk murder case
DHAKA, April 01, 2019 (BSS) – The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court (SC) today upheld a High Court order that granted bail to former Tangail-3 lawmaker Amanur Rahman Khan Rana in a case lodged over murder of Freedom Fighter (FF) Faruk Ahmed.
A four-member Appellate Division bench headed by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain passed the order, scrapping an appeal filed by the state against the High Court order.
Earlier on March 25, the Chamber Judge Court of the Appellate Division stayed the High Court order and sent it to apex court full bench for further hearing.
The High Court on March 14 granted Rana bail for six months. The prosecution filed an appeal against the order with the Appellate Division.
Bullet-riddled body of Tangail district Awami League leader Faruk Ahmed was found near his house on January 18, 2013. His wife Nahar Ahmed filed the case against unidentified miscreants with Tangail Sadar Police Station.
