BGB, Ansar become champions in Independence Day Wrestling completion

DHAKA, March 31, 2019 (BSS)-Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Bangladesh
Ansar became the champions in male and female discipline respectively in the
Independence Day Wrestling Competition, held at the Shaheed M Mansur Ali
Handball Stadium in the city today.

A total of 150 players from twenty teams featuring Border Guard Bangladesh
(BGB), Bangladesh Police, Bangladesh Ansar and different clubs – ten of men
and ten of women teams – took part in the twenty weight categories of the
meet, sponsored by RDDL and organised by Bangladesh Amateur Wrestling
Federation (BAWF).

BGB and Bangladesh Ansar basically kept up their domination as they were
also the previous champions in their respective group.

This time around, BGB became champions, clinching 10 medals including 6
gold, 1 silver and 3 bronze. Bangladesh Army was the runners-up, having won 7
medals including 2 gold and 5 bronze.

On the way to be champions in female discipline, Bangladesh Ansar won 9
medals including 5 gold, 1 silver and 3 bronze. Bangladesh Army was the
runners-up with 10 medals including 4 gold, 6 silver.

The champions and runners-up team has been awarded with trophy and medal.
In addition, in all discipline the first place holder was rewarded with BDT
1,000, while the second and third place holder got BDT 500.

Abdullah Al Islam Jacob, the chairman of the Parliamentary Standing
Committee for Youth and Sports was present as the chief guest. Dr Kazi Erteza
Hasan, CIP, the chairman of RDDL was present as special guest.
