UZ poll held peacefully in Khulna
KHULNA, March 31, 2019 (BSS) – The fourth phase of the fifth upazila parishad (UP) poll was held today in a free, fair and peaceful manner in eight upazilas of the district.
Vote counting was on till filing of the report.
Earlier, the voting started at 8am in a festive mood and continued peacefully till 4pm uninterruptedly with spontaneous participation of the voters.
Today was a public holiday in the respective upazilas on the occasion of the local body election.
Officer-in-Charge of Khulna District (OC-Watch) Abdur Rashid told BSS, at least 21,000 Police, 4,692 Ansers, 24 platoons of BGB, 18 petrol team of RAB and 207 members of Coast Guard have been deployed in eight upazila since Thursday and they will remain deployed till Monday.
