Application of technologies can prevent fire incidents: ICT Minister

RAJSHAHI, March 30, 2019 (BSS)- Post, Telecommunications and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Minister Mustafa Jabbar said here today that fire incidents can be prevented ensuring the best application of technologies.

“We have the technologies. These should be applied in their best forms,” he said while talking to the newsmen after visiting the project site of ‘Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Hi-Tech Park, Rajshahi’.

The minister said: “We have modern technologies. Information of any fire incident can be collected from thousand miles away through using these properly.”

He urged the building owners to receive suggestions from the ICT ministry related to using of the technologies prior to constructing their establishments.

Jabbar also said there were many faults in the construction of multi-storied buildings in the past due to lack of proper enforcement of the existing relevant rules and regulations. He, however, said the government will take stern actions against those who would violate building code.

“We have collected all the information including the source of fire of the buildings which were badly affected by fire recently,” he said adding that all necessary issues have been brought under consideration in building the hi-tech parks keeping provision of the safe-exit.

ICT Secretary Ziaul Alam, Commissioner of Rajshahi division Nur-Ur-Rahman and Deputy Commissioner Abdul Kader accompanied the minister during the visit.
