Man gets life for trading drug in Chapainawabganj
CHAPAINAWABGANJ, March 29, 2019 (BSS)- A Chapainawabganj court on Thursday sentenced a man to life term imprisonment for trading drug of Chapainawabganj sadar upazila two years ago.
The court also fined him Taka 50,000, in default to suffer one year more in jail, a court official said.
The convicted person is Md. Abdus Sabur, 45, of Chunakhali Bagharpara village under Ranihati union of Chapainawabganj sadar upazila.
Additional district and session judge Shawkat Ali gave this verdict in presence of the convict. According to the prosecution story, members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-5, on secret information, raided the house of Abdus Sabur on September 25, 2016 and arrested him with 415 grams of heroin.
Next day Inspector Aminul Islam of RAB-5 filed a case against him with Chapainawabganj sadar thana under Narcotics Control Act.
Later on March 21 in 2017 investigating officer of the case Sub-inspector Badrul Hasan submitted charge sheet to the court.
After hearing the witnesses, the court handed down the punishment.
