Liton seeks Indian support to open Rajshahi-Kolkata train, air links

RAJSHAHI, March 28, 2019 (BSS)- Rajshahi City Corporation Mayor AHM
Khairuzzaman Liton has sought Indian support to start train, air and river
communications between Rajshahi and Kolkata directly to boost the people to
people relation of the two cities.

Mayor Liton said thousands of people from Rajshahi visit Koltkata and
other parts of India for various purposes including treatment.

So, the issue of initiating communications of all ways should be brought
into special consideration on urgent basis, he added.

Liton made this observation when Assistant Indian Commissioner in Rajshahi
Sanjeev Kumar Bhati called on him at his city bhaban office here today.

In the meeting, they discussed various bilateral issues of mutual interests
and stressed the need for boosting the relation in the years to come.

Mayor Liton calls for more people’s connectivity among the neighbouring
countries for substantial and sustainable development of the region.

He termed the Bangladesh-India relation as cordial and long-lasting and
said visa procedure should be made more easy and liberalized.

Importance should be given priority in terms of medical and other
emergencies visa.

Later, Sanjeev Bhati accompanied by Mayor Liton visited the Bangabandhu
Corner at the city bhaban ground floor.
