BIWTA demolishes 29 illegal structures from Turag’s banks
DHAKA, MAR 27, 2019 (BSS) – Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority
(BIWTA) in an eviction drive demolished a total of 29 illegal structures
built on the banks of Turag River in Savar.
The BIWTA conducted the drive following the order of the Shipping Ministry
aimed at freeing the bank of Turag river from illegal encroachment, said a
press release.
The demolished structures include one three-storied building, 4 two-storied
buildings, 12 one-storied buildings, seven partially constructed houses and 5
tin-shed shops located at Kaundia.
BIWTA will resume the drive at Sinnirtek of Mirpur Beribadh area tomorrow
9am, the release added.
