Prime accused of Diaz murder placed on 2-day remand

CHATTOGRAM, March 27, 2019 (BSS)- A Chattogram court today placed Mohammad
Arman, prime accused in a case filed over the much talked murder of
Chattogram University (CU) BCL leader Diaz Irfan Chowdhury, on two-day
remand.

Senior judicial magistrate Mohammad Shahidullah Kaiser passed the order as
the investigation officer (IO) of the case placed Arman before the court with
a five-day remand petition, court inspector Bijon Kumar Barua told BSS.

On March 20, Criminal Investigation Department (CID) arrested Arman, a
former leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) of CU, from city’s Chandgaon
residential area in connection with the Diaz murder case, on March 20.

Earlier on November 20 in 2016, police recovered the hanging body of Diaz
Irfan Chowdhury from his family residence at Hathazari upazila of the
district.

The first autopsy report said that Diaz committed suicide by hanging
himself, but his family rejected the autopsy report and his mother Jaheda
Amin Chowdhury filed a case with Chattogram court accusing 10 people of the
murder.

The second autopsy report on July 30, 2017 reveled that BCL central leader
Diaz did not commit suicide, he was murdered.

Upon receiving the latest report that found signs of murder, the court
ordered the CID for re-examination the case.
