DHAKA, March 27, 2019 (BSS) – A circular bus service was introduced in the city today, which will run on Dhanmondi-New Market-Azimpur route aiming to
cut traffic congestion here and ease sufferings of city commuters.

Mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Sayeed Khokon formally inaugurated the circular bus service near Kalabagan Bus Stand at about 11 am.

After inaugurating the bus service, Khokon said initially some 20 air-
conditioned BRTC buses will run on the route, which will take and drop
passengers from 36 points on a circular route.

He said the AC bus service will not only ensure security and discipline on
the roads here, but also cut traffic jam around Dhanmondi area.

Officials at the DSCC said the lowest fare of the bus is Taka 10, while the
highest fare is set at Taka 30.

Speaking at the inaugural function, Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner
Asaduzzaman Mia said: “People have become much more aware now. Around 97 to
98 percent bikers now use helmets, but discipline is still absent in the
transport sector”.

But, he hoped that the discipline will come on the city roads within 15
days.

Earlier, on March 13, the bus route rationalisation committee at its
meeting held at Nagar Bhaban decided to introduce circular bus service on
Dhanmondi-Uttara-Motijheel routes of the city aiming to bring discipline in
public transportation and ease the sufferings of city commuters.
