Bangladesh embassy in Japan celebrates Independence Day

DHAKA, March 26, 2019 (BSS) – The Embassy of Bangladesh in Tokyo
celebrated the Independence and National Day in a befitting manner on
Tuesday.

Programmes of the 49th Independence Day of Bangladesh started with
hoisting the National Flag by playing the National Anthem at the embassy
premises in the morning, according to a message received here today.

The flag was hoisted by the Ambassador of Bangladesh to Japan, Rabab
Fatima. The Ambassador stood in solemn silence for a minute as a mark
of profound respect to the memories of the Liberation War martyrs.

Special prayers were offered for the departed souls of the martyrs of
the Great Liberation War.

Marking the day, special supplements were published by local dailies.

Later, the National Day reception was held in a Hotel of Tokyo where
Japanese ministers, diet members, Ambassadors, leading business leaders,
think tanks, civil society representatives and many expatriate Bangladesh
community members joined.

Toshiko Abe, State Minister for Foreign Affairs, graced the occasion as
chief guest and Ichiro Tsukada, State Minister for MLIT, read out the message
of Taro Aso, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister of Japan, who is also
the President of Japan-Bangladesh Parliamentary Friendship League.

Among others, Yoshitaka Sakurada, Minister for the Tokyo Olympic and
Paralympic Games, Minoru Kiuchi, State Minister of the Environment, and
Yasutoshi Nishimura, Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary, were also present.

The reception started with playing the National Anthem of both the
countries on a violin and it was followed by a cake-cutting ceremony.

The Ambassador in her welcome speech paid deep homage to Father of the
Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the martyrs of the war of
independence and the valiant freedom fighters.
