SC stays Rana’s bail in FF Faruk murder trial
DHAKA, March 25, 2019 (BSS) – The Chamber Judge Court of the Supreme
Court (SC) today stayed a High Court order that granted bail to former
Tangail-3 lawmaker Amanur Rahman Khan Rana in Freedom Fighter Faruk murder
trial.
Justice Hasan Foez Siddique of Appellate Division Chamber Judge Court
passed the order, staying Rana’s bail till March 31 after holding hearing on
a prosecution plea.
The High Court on March 14 granted Rana bail for six months. The
prosecution filed an appeal against the order with the Appellate Division.
Attorney General Mahbubey Alam and deputy attorney general Dr Md Bashir
Ullah moved the state case, while Advocate Sayeed Ahmed Raza stood for Rana.
Bullet-riddled body of Tangail district Awami League leader Faruk Ahmed
was found near his house on January 18, 2013. His wife Nahar Ahmed filed the
case against unidentified miscreants with Tangail Sadar Police Station.
