‘Blood donation remembering 30 lakh martyred’

RANGPUR, March 24, 2019 (BSS) – Officials, employees and workers of Uttara Export Processing Zone (UEPZ) in Nilphamari today donated 317 bags of blood in remembrance of 30 lakh martyrs of the black night of March 25 and War of Liberation in 1971.

Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister’s Office Md. Nojibur Rahman inaugurated the event through video conferencing as a part of the nationwide voluntary blood donation programme of Bangladesh Export Processing Zone Authority (BEPZA) and all eight EPZs of the country.

With assistance of Nilphamari district health administration and Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS), the officials, employees and workers of Uttara EPZ donated the blood for the poor people through the BDRCS volunteers.

Civil Surgeon of Nilphamari Dr Ranjet Kumar Barman, General Manager of Uttara EPZ SM Akhter Alam Mostafi, its Deputy Manager (Commercial Operation) Khaled Mahmud and high officials of Uttara EPZ and other government organisations were present.

General Manager of Uttara EPZ SM Akhter Alam Mostafi said the blood donation programme was organised simultaneously at BEPZA and all eight EPZs of the country in memory of three million martyrs during the War of Liberation.

“The voluntary blood donation programme was arranged nationwide to pay rich tribute to the martyrs of the genocide on the black night of March 25 and War of Liberation in 1971 before celebration of the Independent and Nation day-2019 on Tuesday next.

Later, BDRCS volunteers presented a souvenir to the Uttara EPZ authority for donation of blood through BDRCS for treatment of the poorer section patients to serve the suffering humanity.
