Mozammel for enacting “Genocide Denial Law”

DAHKA, March 24, 2019 (BSS) – Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Huq today stressed on enacting “Genocide Denial Law” like many other countries so that legal action can be taken against those denying the brutal genocide on March 25, 1971.

“The people, who do debate over March 25 Genocide and the number of martyrs of the Liberation War, and don’t believe in country’s independence, do not believe in the spirit of freedom struggle and want the history backward,” he said in a discussion at Jatiya Press Club here.

The minister categorically said it is very urgent to enact a law entitled “Genocide Denial Law” and it would help take action against the quarter that denied the genocide ahead of the 1971 Liberation War.

Terming the brutal attack on the innocent and sleeping people on March 25 in 1971 as a barbaric incident in the history, he said the incumbent government is working with the “Genocide Day” to get international recognition in this regard.

“Let the new generation know about the history of March 25 through attending in different programme of the day,” the minister added, urging all to make the discussion at National Museum at about 3 pm tomorrow a success.

Sompriti Bangladesh organised the discussion on “Genocide on March 25, 1971 and Our Thoughts” at the JPC VIP Lounge with its convener Pijush Bandhopaddhya in the chair.

Former secretary poet Asad Mannan, Jatiya Muktijouddha Council member Major (retd) Waker Hasan Bir Protik, former information and culture affairs secretary Nasiruddin Ahmed, Prof Dr Ashim Sarker of Dhaka University, political and security analyst Major General (Retd) AKM Mohamamd Ali Sikder and Dr Nujhat Chowdhury, also took part in the discussion.
