Bangladesh-India home minister-level talks in Delhi on April 1

NEW DELHI, March 24, 2019 (BSS) – Bangladesh and India will discuss trans-border security, cross border trafficking and border management issues as the 7th round of home minister-level talks between the two neighbouring countries are going to be held here on April 1.

Bangladesh Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan and his Indian counterpart Rajnath Singh will lead their respective sides to the talks, highly placed source of Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi told BSS today.

The Bangladesh home minister will arrive in New Delhi on a 3-day official visit on March 31 to join the talks. He is expected to leave here for Dhaka on April 2.

The 6th round of home ministerial talks was held in Dhaka in October last year when Indian Home Minister Rajnath Singh visited Bangladesh.

Another source preferring not to be named said that they may discuss other issues like Rohingya influx in Bangladesh, their repatriation, restrictions on visa issuance (except emergency need) before and during general election in India begins from April 11.

The election to 543 seats of the Lok Sabha will be held in seven phases from April 11 to May 19 and the results will be declared on May 23.
