Rich tributes paid to BALID chairman Dr Rezaul Islam

DHAKA, March 24, 2019 (BSS) – Librarians, professionals, colleagues and friends have paid rich tributes to chairman of Bangladesh Association of Librarians, Information Scientists and Documentalists (BALID) and librarian of Islamic University of Technology (IUT) in Gazipur Dr Mirza Mohd Rezaul Islam at a memorial meeting.

BALID organized the memorial meeting and doa mahfil on its chairman at the CIRDAP auditorium on Saturday while joint-secretary of BLID AKM Nurul Alam presented a brief video on life and works of Dr Rezaul.

Dr Omar Jah, acting vice-chancellor of IUT, a subsidiary organ of Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), former member of parliament Akhter Jahan, National University Dean Professor Dr Nasiruddin Mitul, Professor of Dhaka University Information Science and Library Management Department Dr SM Zaved Ahmed, Dhaka Ahsania Mission Director (information) Kazi Ali Reza, Bangladesh Association of Librarians President Ali Akbar and BALID acting chairman Hajea Rahman reminisced on life and works of Dr Rezaul.

Md Asif Sakib, elder son of Rezaul Islam, sought prayers from all for his father eternal peace.

Rezaul Islam, who was undergoing treatment at the intensive-care unit (ICU) of a hospital in the city, breathed his last at 12.10 pm on March 15 at the age of 60.

He was laid to eternal rest after Esha prayers at a graveyard in city’s Mirpur area on Friday.

Earlier on March 11, he was admitted to the hospital after he suffered a massive stroke.
