Anti-drug drive to be intensified: DMP chief

DHAKA, March 23, 2019 (BSS) – Calling upon all to stand against illicit drugs, Dhaka Metropolitan Commissioner (DMP) Md. Asaduzzaman Mia today said drive against drugs would further be intensified aimed at stamping out the menace from the society.

“None of the drug peddlers, whatever powerful they might be, will be spared,” he told a rally of students and guardians at Shamsul Hoque Khan School and College at Demra here.

Stressing the need for collective efforts to stop the drug trading, he said, “We all should take stand against drugs as it not only destroys a person but also a family and thus the future generation.”

Drive against drugs will further be strengthened as none will be allowed doing the illegal business within the DMP areas, he also said.

He, however, sounded a note of warning against police personnel saying if any cop directly or indirectly involve in drug trading would have to face dire consequences.

“They will not only lose their jobs but also to be put in jail.

Referring to the success in containing militancy within four months after the Holey Artisan Attack, he said they would have to stop the drug trading likewise the militancy in line with the government’s ‘zero tolerance policy’ against drugs.

Among others, additional police commissioner (crime and operation) Krishna Pada Roy, governing body chairman of Shamsul Hoque Khan School and College, Mahfuzur Rahman Molla, principal Dr Mahbubur Rahman Molla, and local representatives were present on the occasion.
