HC cancels bail of Subarnachar rape accused
DHAKA, March 23, 2019 (BSS) – The High Court (HC) today canceled the bail
it had granted to Ruhul Amin, who allegedly ordered rape of a housewife in
Noakhali’s Subarnachar upazila on December 30.
A High Court division bench comprising Justice Mamnoon Rahaman and Justice
SM Kuddus Zaman passed the order this morning.
“The court has canceled Ruhul Amin’s bail and we are grateful for this,”
Attorney General Mahbubey Alam said.
The chief law officer of the state said they would plea before bar council
to take action against Ruhul Amin’s lawyer for ‘confusing’ prosecution.
The same High Court bench on March 18 had granted Amin one-year bail,
allowing a petition of the accused.
The prosecution, however, accused the defence of confusing them by
mentioning the case to one bench and moving it before another.
“We are sending this recall order to concerned authorities quickly so that
the earlier order does not get executed,” the attorney general added.
