LALMONIRHAT, March 22, 2019 (BSS) – Railways Minister Nurul Islam Sujan today said inter-country train will run through Burimari-Changrabandha route soon, which will help enhance regional rail connectivity.

“The feasibility study on the introduction of train service among four countries (Bangladesh-India-Nepal and Bhutan) has already begun,” he told reporters at Lalmonirhat Divisional Rail Station here.

Noting that about 200 metre-gauge coaches will be added to Bangladesh Railway (BR) fleet this year, the railway minister said the demand of train coaches will be met after adding 500 new coaches to BR fleet within next year.

A master plan has been taken to modernise the railway sector and enhance the country’s communication system as per the directives of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, he said, adding that the country’s closed rail lines would be restored soon.
