Four jailed for killing schoolboy in Cumilla
CHATTOGRAM, Mar 19, 2019 (BSS) – A Chattogram court today awarded life-term rigorous imprisonment to four persons for killing a schoolboy five years back.
The acting judge of divisional speedy trial tribunal Abdul Halim pronounced the verdict convicting Rasel, Sohel Rana, Monir Hossain and Sarwar Alam.
The court also acquitted two other persons Abdus Salam and Alia Begum as their guilt could not be proved during the prosecution.
The court also fined them Tk two lakh each.
The prosecution story is, in brief, that Mohammad Ismail Hossain, a class eight student of Zoyak High School, was strangled over previous enmity at the night of 11 October 2014 by the convicted persons at the paddy field of Laximpur village of Chandina thana under Cumilla district.
Victim’s father Mohammad Abul Hossain filed a murder case with Chandina thana on 13 October in 2014.
Police submitted a charge sheet accusing six people on 15 September, 2015.
The court pronounced the judgment after examining 15 prosecution’s witnesses out of 18.
The judge delivered the verdict in absence of three convicts.
