Three killed in Rangpur road crash

RANGPUR, Mar 19, 2019 (BSS) – Three persons were killed in a road accident
near Dhaperhat point on the Rangpur-Dhaka highway under Pirganj upazila of
the district in the early hours of today, police said.

“The accident occurred when a Rangpur bound covered-van from Dhaka turned
turtle after the driver lost control over the steering and hit a night coach
from the behind there at 4 am today,” said Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Pirganj
Thana Saresh Chandra.

Three people including supervisor of the Thakurgaon bound night coach from
Dhaka and its two female passengers were killed on the spot and four others
injured in the accident.

The deceased are night coach supervisor Rezaul Karim, 40, son of Joynal
Abedin of village Singher Shimla in Sherpur upazila of Bogura and passengers
Jharna Begum, 24, daughter of Bashir Uddin of village Dharla Kandi and
Shamsunnahar, 50, wife of Ansar Ali of village Prothom Danga in Pirganj
upazila of Rangpur districts.

The injured persons were admitted to nearby Pirganj Upazila Health Complex.

“A case was filed in this connection with Pirganj police station,” the OC
added.
